In 2013, I published a short story titled Mother, Daughter, Mercenary in an international crime fiction magazine titled Noir Nation

I always wanted to go back to that story and I expanded on it in another short story titled Cutty Sark, published in 2018 in Writer's Bone in their December issue.

Though at first glance these two short stories are unrelated --except that they both deal with family relationships and crime--they became two sections of one narrative in my mind. Finally, I'm thrilled to say they have come together greatly expanded in one novel that is also #ownvoices #Jewish in my desire to continue to expand Jewish Literature to include Yemenite and Sephardi voices.

I'm so grateful to my two beta readers: author and photographer Rivka Begun in Switzerland and author Christi R. Suzanne in Portland, Oregon. I'm also grateful to the people who set up social media writers groups so that we can find these amazing creatives and exchange work. I'm a huge fan of writers helping and supporting other writers and they have both added greatly to the manuscript, so a public 'thank you'. I encourage novelists looking for a new story to consider their short works as sources of inspiration.
